Where are these notifications coming from?

I thought that as well, but that isn't the case here. Those alerts are off, and It's been awhile since I've used them but I think they are also formatted quite different - thank you for the suggestion though OliverR-1982
Is it possible that there is a Microsoft Flow configured for that list that's sending you these emails, cmac474 ? You could check at https://flow.microsoft.com and click on My flows in the navigation panel. But I reckon you would remember setting up a flow... Or maybe someone else configured a flow to send you an e-mail after each list update? But then the e-mails would have to come from a known user within the organization (ie. the one who configured the Flow).
I'm afraid I'm out of ideas, to be honest.

That's it! I knew I shouldn't have believed them when I asked them if they created a workflow recently 😉 OliverR-1982
