What is best practice for adding SPO sites URL to trusted sites (Internet Explorer)?
After recent updates to our user's computers (e.g., upgrading to Windows 10 & Office 2016), many user's reported that Internet Explorer would stop working anytime user attempted to access SharePoint Online sites. When checking IE>Internet Options>Security>Trusted sites, only two URLs were saved: https: // company-files.sharepoint . com and https: // company -myfiles.sharepoint .com. The only fix was to add a URL with the wildcard: https: // *.sharepoint .com. This "fixed" the IE crashes (and eliminated all of the "warnings" when trying to open up OneNote notebooks or downloading other documents).
Was this the correct solution to this problem? What is best practice for adding SPO sites URL to IE trusted sites?
Hi Scott,
The company prefix should work but it is important that you add the other ones as well:
https://*.microsoftonline.com
https://*.lync.com
https://*.outlook.com
I had a case with a customer that had a reloading Chrome browser on every page of Office 365 and surprisingly that was fixed after adding https://*.office.com as well...
The easiest way:
I always use the https://*.sharepoint.com url, since that also helps when I get external access to other tenants as well. This is also the recommendation from Microsoft. But I can understand that you don't want the sites of all other SPO tenants added to your trusted sites as well.
It may well be that it works better for you when you add the company prefixed urls to the intranet zone as well together with the trusted sites zones.

Here is the MS documentation. I also added yammer.com to my inhouse stuff.

Specifically, go to the METHOD 2 ADD SITES TO LOCAL INTERNET AND TRUSTED SITES .......
