Views -- How many per list?

Is there a limit on the number of views I can create in a SharePoint list or library?  Does anyone know the maximum number it will show in the dropdown?

    Also found this that we can have more than 500 views per list but it seems we SP cannot show more than 50

    CindyZ I haven't tested it in modern SharePoint Online, but with SP2010 it was 50 so might well be still the same.
