Users with read rights cannot delete comments
My users can read a News Page in SharePoint and add their comments.
However, when they try to delete their own comments, they receive a pop-up and an error message
The action could not be completed. Please try again later.
Trying again later does not help. If we assign them additional permissions, like Edit elements, they can remove their comments, but also edit the News pages, which kills the idea.
How can I enable my users to delete their own comments? Is there a hidden list of comments somewhere?

Yup, that is true.
But they can add the comment with read rights only AND they see the Delete Button (well, menu, a clickable option).
So they go and click. Because as long as they can see a button, they think they are allowed to perform the action. That makes sense. Buttons for actions they are not allowed to do (like **Edit** page) are not shown. Why is this one? i think it's not possible as user with read permission to delete their own comments.
