User alerts for external users in SharePoint Online doc library and list
Hi All ,
I would like to know if it's possible for external users to receive user alerts from a SharePoint Online document library or list . I guess this is not possible in SharePoint on-premises and hence would like to know if it's the same case for SharePoint Online as well ? I remember few years back my Microosft PFE telling me that user alerts can't be set in SharePoint Online , but I would like to know if that's still the same case or do we have any changes to that ? If user alerts can't be set in SP online for external users can you help me understand why that's not possible ?Is that because the external users won't have a SharePoint profile created for them like an internal user ? Please help me with this .Thanks in advance .

This case suggests that external users that have been authenticated into a SharePoint Online organization can be set up for alerts.
- If the users have a valid e-mail address , they should also receive the alerts.
