Use shorter links when sharing files and folders
Hello,
In the sharing option of the SPO admin center is a new option "Use shorter links when sharing files and folders". I don't know how I should explain the benefit to others?
Now if I share a document the new link format is
https://[Tenant]-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/[UPN]/[ALongID]=[DurableID]
Compared to the old, normal sharing link https://[Tenant]-my.sharepoint.com/personal/[UPN]/Documents/[DocumentPath]=[DurableID]
I find no announcement or information. Maybe someone know more details?
Thanks
Tobias

- AnonymousThey announced it at ignite, just something to clean up the length of the URL's, there isn't a ton of info out about it, just something they kind of added in and mumbled about at ignite.
Yep, this was announced at Ignite but I'm not aware of a message in the message center announcing the rollout (I have not checked the message center today though) cc Stephen Rose Stephen Price Brian Levenson

Hey all,
A message center post and help article should be rolling out soon :) We provided an admin switch as we know that some customers may have third party integrations that won't yet support the new link format. The post will have more details. Thanks!
