Unable to save an item when I pick a person with an apostrophe in email

Hello

I have a SP list (modern experience) to maintain a list of people. Has a "Person or Group" column, a couple of "Choice" columns and a few Single line of text columns.

One of the people I intend to add to the list has an apostrophe in the email. The default form doesn't let me the save that record. Throws an error "Upload is invalid". But when I open the newform.aspx, I am able to.

Appreciate any insights on why the default form behavior is different? Is it possible to force New button click to open the newform.aspx instead?
