Unable to edit hub site home page

For the last week or so I have had a lot of trouble being able to edit the home page of my hub site in SharePoint Online. The Edit button is there, but nothing happens when I click it. I also noticed that the same is true of the Page details button. I am an Owner on the site, so I know it's not a permissions issue.

Sometimes - but only sometimes; usually not - I am able to go to Site Contents > Site Pages to click on the home page filename and then I can edit.

Has anyone else experienced this? It's getting to be a real problem.

EDIT: I should add that I am able to edit all other pages in the site. Also, I was able to create a duplicate of the page (by using the Copy to function) and edit it ... once. After I was in Edit mode for a while, I clicked to Discard changes, and since then the Edit button does nothing when I click it.

  • Hello David_Douglas

sounds strange....can you create a new, blank, page and set this as home page?

    Work's this fine?

I recommend you to use this new home page, i know, you have work to rebuild, but sometimes it's the better way and less troubles in the future with this page.

    Best, Dave

Hello, DaveMehr365 - thank you for the reply.

I'm really hoping I don't have to attempt that. Without being able to edit and see how the page was originally set up, I'm not even sure I would be able to. A considerable amount of the home page uses software called ShortPoint to create the web parts, and it was mostly created by our vendor when we migrated to SharePoint in 2020-21. I am able to use ShortPoint, but it might be difficult to go back and re-create what they did.

I do have a Zoom call with ShortPoint scheduled soon, and we will try to figure out the issue. I really think the problem is on Microsoft's end, though.
