Unable to delete Sharepoint Online site Preservation Hold list items in bulk

Hi Everyone,

We encountered an issue where we were unable to delete Sharepoint Online Preservation Hold list items in bulk. We had around 400,000 list items showing and only able to delete in batches of 100.

 When we tried to run a script from Microsoft team, we ran into this error: library has exceeded the list view threshold which is 5000 items per library.

Would like to know if there's an easier way out to clean up the Sharepoint  Online site Preservation Hold library to a bare minimum ?
