Unable to add Document Library Webpart to modern page

I've created a new page on one of our sites.  I clicked on add webpart, selected "Document Library (Preview)," which I'm confused why it says preview.  It then asks to "select a document library to add to this page" and it lists Documents, Site Assets, Site Pages and even a new one I manually created called Test.  NOTHING happens when I try and click on anything.  It says as a hand icons which means there are no links.

If we're being told to use modern pages, but we can't add basic document libraries to a new page, what are we supposed to do in order to get documents, folders and files setup?

In the screenshot included, there is nothing to click on, no apply, nothing.

  • Are you sure you are adding the WebPart in the same site where you added the document library? In that case, what you are seeing is completely unexpected so I recommend you to open a support ticket...in regards of why the webpart is still in preview, this is something only Microsoft can answer here...they are still evolving some WebParts in SPO and I thing the document library and list ones are one of those

I'm creating a new page not a new site/subsite.  I created the new Doc Library on the same SITE as the page.  It also lists the default "Document" one that exists on the site.  How does one create a new doc library in a PAGE versus a SITE?  If this new Doc Library is brand new, what is the benefit of creating new modern pages if you can't stored files on them in a doc library?

You should still be able to access your document library that you created by going to the site and going into site contents (use the cogwheel icon in the top right). If you cannot find your library in site contents it does not exist on that site and it might be that you created it elsewhere.
