The option to create word document, excel, etc has disappeared after i added a custom content type
Inside the built-in Documents library, we have those options to create different document types:-
now I defined a new custom content type named "custom document", and i added it to the Documents library and i removed the built-in custom Document content type, as follow:-
but after doing so , the options to create document types such as word, excel, powerpoint and so on disappeared as follow:-
so what is the reason? and what is the "custom document" we are getting?
- It's because it's part of your content type, that's how it works when you add them. As you can attach a document template to that.
- Press the "Edit new menu" and re-add them.
