Teams channel missing sharepoint page
Quick query. I have a Team with a few channels within. Some of the channels have Sharepoint pages whilst others don’t. I’ve created a channel for which I need a front Sharepoint page and it doesn’t have one. Any idea how I create a page and link it to this channel? Or is it something I should have done when I created the channel?
Thanks in advance for the help.
- A Team gets a SharePoint site for the entire Team and any Standard channels in that Team just have a folder tied to the channel to the Documents Library.
Any Private, or now Shared Channels created in the Team will have their own SharePoint sites per channel created. But they are very restricted forms of SharePoint sites and should only be used for document storage on the channel.
Anyway, I guess the real question is, how are you accessing the SharePoint pages of the channels you say have their own page? It's very possible someone created a "Page" on the underlying Team SharePoint site, then added a SharePoint tab to the channel and linked to that individual "Page" on that site.
I'm going to guess this is the case, but let us know since there really isn't a way in Teams to get the "Home" page of the attached SharePoint site, so I figure it might be a tab, unless you're going through SharePoint to get to the Team SharePoint site and in that case it might be a channel type thing.- Baz_ManCopper Contributor
ChrisWebbTech AndresGorzelany All sorted now, cheers for the replies both. I’d assumed all channels within a team had an automatic Sharepoint page created. The private channels were the ones I’d checked which do have a page but the open channel didn’t. The links above explained it.
Thanks for your help
- Hello,
When you say SharePoint pages do you mean Document Libraries?- Baz_ManCopper Contributor
AndresGorzelany brand new to Sharepoint so not 100%. It’s more than just a document library, it’s the page you can add news, events, images, embed live Power BI reports etc… Very similar to the first picture in this page https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-sharepoint-blog/top-10-most-important-powers-of-your-sharepoint-team-sites-in/ba-p/355598
- So a Teams-connected site is created automatically whenever you create a team.
So the channels belonging to a team share the same site (unless it is a private channel, see here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/teams-connected-sites)
Every channel will get a Folder in the Documents document library.
