We have several SharePoint online sites that are on hold waiting to be converted to "Task Lists in Modern Experience" view. Would be very interested in the resolution and availability of it for the issue outlined here...
Mmm...that's odd because If there is a modern task list in SP 2019, then it should be first in SPO something that to me knowledge is not true
Would you be kind enough to further investigate this and confirm that it should work with SP Online...

- Ok, I have talked to Mike Lee and I have missed one part here: you can configure your Task list to use the modern view instead so you will effectively get a modern Task List that is not fully modern...some of the views (such as the Gantt View) are not modernized yet
- Juan, for the time being, when you configure your task list to use the modern view instead, then the mentioned issue occurs, where it downloads a file instead of opening the item in view/edit mode, so I’m interested in knowing, when/if this issue will be fixed?
