Sync SharePoint calendar to NEW Outlook

Another reason not to switch to the "New" Outlook that has lost so much functionality that you might as well just use the web version which is very limited in a "Real" corporate environment.   I have multiple Teams calendars and a corporate calendar that I have to keep track of and the lack of adding the web based to New Outlook and the ability to overlay the calendars just makes it worthless.

I wanted to share a temporary fix that may help some of you... God knows I've benefitted much more than I've contributed in forums such as these. I use the "new" outlook and noticed the incompatibility with SharePoint while trying to add in my new team's existing calendars. This is the work around I came up with for importing existing dates, time off requests, etc. so my team didn't have to re-enter every event into a new Outlook Calendar. Of note, after moving everything over that was on the SharePoint calendars, we immediately swapped over to using exclusively Outlook Calendars. Hope this helps:

Step 1: Connect SharePoint calendar with the 'OLD Outlook'

Step 2: Open 'OLD Outlook' calendar and right click the calendar you're wanting to add to 'NEW Outlook'

Step 3: Click "Share" > "Email Calendar"

Step 4: Specify the information you want to include and click "OK". You'll notice the calendar is both displayed as an image -AND- a ".ics" file... this is important
Step 5: Email the calendar to yourself, open it in 'NEW Outlook', and save the ".ics" file somewhere you can easily find it (e.g. downloads)

Step 6: Open your calendars in 'NEW Outlook', click "Add Calendar", click "Upload from file", and click "Browse" to locate the ".ics" file you saved

Step 7: Select which calendar you want to add the SharePoint calendar to and click "Import"
