Sub sites under a Hub site, automatically associated?

Hi,

I'm having a play with hub sites to get a better understanding of how they work.  For an experiment I created a classic team site from the SharePoint Admin console and then created a number of modern pages on it and made one of these the home page.  According to MS classic sites are supported as hub sites but you must use modern pages for displaying navigation etc.  So once the site was built I converted it to a hub site, the hub site options appeared under settings, so happy days.

So next I created a couple of sub sites under this team site, as before I created a bunch of modern pages on these sites.  I noticed that the "Hub site association" option wasn't visible under "Site Information" however the sites appeared on the hub site within the "Sites web part".  So this suggests that sub sites of a parent hub site get added automatically, I couldn't find anything in the documentation to cover this so wanted to see if anyone else has seen this behaviour?

Cheers

Rob

I agree with jcgonzalezmartin everything that I have seen indicates that Hub sites are intended to connect together multiple top levels sites, they don't surface/connect anything else

Oddly some of the functionality does seem to work, I've taken a screenshot of the hub site which has 3 subsites (A Subsite, B Subsite, Subsite Template).  The page has a "Sites" web part which is using the option "Show all sites in hub" and there is a "News" web part, again the option on this is set to "All sites in the hub".

As you can see the information is being rolled up from the sub sites to the web parts.

The parent navigation is also present on the sub sites.

      Interesting eh?
