SPO Site Assets library missing the default content types in classic experience

Hi,

Site Assets library in SharePoint Online is missing the OOB content types(eg: Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) in classic experience.

Classic Experience: Site Assets -> New -> New Document, New Folder

Modern Experience: Site Assets -> New -> Folder, Word Document, Excel Workbook, PowerPoint Presentation, OneNote notebook, Visio drawing, Link

Does any one know why they are missing? I did not make any changes to the library settings. Attached are the screenshots.

  • that is a strange one. But i know from the past when in classic mode you only had word and folder by default could add the other programs but not by default. In Modern they added it i think this is done because you want to be able to start directly in online with excel, ppt or other programs
