Site Swap - have a got the wrong end of the stick?
Just seen this https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/powershell/module/sharepoint-online/invoke-spositeswap?view=sharepoint-ps - site swap.
Does this mean if our current xxx.sharepoint.com, which uses a Team Classic Site, can be swapped with a Communication Site? If this is so, what happens to any subsites under it?

All subsites will move with the site collection to the new location.
- Ole BergtunCopper ContributorI've been looking forward to this one. But will we be able to swap a subsite into a sitecol?

Ole Bergtun and Tanya Denton Subsites will follow its "Parent" to the Archive.

MagnusGoksoyrOLDProfile Tanya Denton I see that one, but my intention here was to swap a subsite object from tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/sitecol1/site1 to replace tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/sitecol2 regardless of the subsites of the swapped object remains or not (but i do see that the should follow:) ).

Tanya Denton Just confirming that this is performed at the Site Collection level. Hence any sub sites contained within the Site Collection will also be swapped.

Tanya Denton This needs to be tested but, according to the post, the "old" site is moved to the archive location so i think the subsites will "follow" the root site to the archive.
- Rob EllisBronze ContributorI agree - it is effectively a 'site collection swap' - so any subsites and other structure in the site collection would be included in the swap.
- Totally agree...this is a scenario I have not tested myself...my thoughts here: if you make the swap, the subsites in your root site should remain in the new site path...but as Magnus said, this is something to be tested
