SharePoint Start (Welcome) page not showing frequent/followed sites correctly

The SharePoint start page used to be quite a useable tool, but has there been an update recently as it's now not showing frequently visited sites or followed sites in the primary lists?  Instead it's showing sites very rarely visited, or even visited only once.  This has been an issue for a few weeks now and however much sites are visited or clicked for "following", they are still falling off the bottom of the list, with infrequent sites given priority.  I now have to hunt for my top sites using Search, which is a workaround, but very irritating and not how the site is supposed to work.  I recently posted on User Voice to raise the profile of a request for "https://protect-eu.mimecast.com/s/HfEcCrkAkSrk6NyS6Elcf" and mentioned this particular issue and have had responses that show it's not just me.
