Sharepoint "Sorry you cant edit this document with others"
Bharath Arja Thanks for the information. Im accessing the file through our sharepoint site, it states that the file is checked in. Users with proper permissions are able to checkout the file but are unable to edit do to the "Sorry you cant edit this document with others" error. Checking in and checking out the file does not change this error.
From your original post, I assumed that the issue is only when editing documents in office desktop apps? Hence i suggested to check any cache issues.
Just looking at the error "Sorry you cant edit this document with others" - Is there a chance that user might have document open in a different tab or different browser session?
- Users are unable to edit in browser and on the desktop app. I verified and made sure that there was only one tab open.
- Can you add a user as site collection admin and see if they are able to edit?
Are you using groups provisioned out of the box when the site is provisioned?Hi Bharath Arja,
I am facing a similar issue. To try it out fresh; I created a document library page, uploaded a file from my laptop and tried to edit it in the browser after checking it out. In the first iteration - all went smooth. I could check-in my file, publish it and also approve it (since I am the site owner). However, when I tried checking out the file to make additional changes; it does not allow me to edit this time. Can you please advise?
