Hi, I'm on the same boat. I want to give view-only access to a wide audience to the Sharepoint Site, but I want to give editing access for the viewers to the Document Library, or at least a particular folder in the document library. Have you resolved this?

Badamaa I'm going to echo Adnan here as his answer was correct, the best way to do this is to break inheritance on the document library or folder in order to add special permissions to it.
To do this, go to your Site Contents and select "Settings" on your Document Library:From there you can manage the permissions for the document library
Break inheritance:
Then edit the group permissions
Let me know if this works for you!
