SharePoint Site Content and Structure

I want to understand why there is a different icon being used for the type of site listed. One is being displayed as a SharePoint Site while the other is being displayed as simply a Site. Their differences also gives me different options under the "Look and Feel" section under site settings. I am given more options when the subsite is a Sharepoint Site vs just a Site. it can be seen in the image attached
