SharePoint Site Column assigned to wrong Content Type

Hello.

Completely new to this group, ,but I am in desperate need for help.... I just got assigned a new position, looking after a new site.

I created a Site Level Column last night, and missed selecting my Content Type and left it on Custom. (should never be working until midnight) So this added it to over 2100 lists and I'm thinking over 4000 libraries. YES - HUGE SITE.

I need to remove it from all these lists and libraries and I am hoping it doesn't have to be done manually - I'd like to somewhat enjoy the next 5 years of my life!!!

Any advice or help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

You can delete from the site column column level. Please remain advised that if any data associated it would lead to data loss.

I tried to delete it, but it is connected to Content Types so I guess deleting from the content types is better then from every list and library.

I have noticed now though if I create a new list this Site Level column is automatically being added. Even on a task list. How is this happening??? This is such a nightmare!!!!

      Please help.

      Thanks for the response Juan,

I thought that If I removed the site level column it would just orphan the columns in the lists and libraries and then I would be back to square one?

Anyone know if this is how it works?

      Thanks,

      Donna
