SharePoint on-prem issue with OneNotes
Hello guys,
have you experienced the same issue?
I’m on the Current Channel of M365 desktop apps (build 20026.20182), and the OneNote desktop app is not syncing notebooks from either a SharePoint 2016 on-prem farm or a SharePoint Subscription Edition farm. The OneNote app crashes after 10 seconds while trying to sync.
Microsoft OneNote desktop error:
We couldn’t open that location. It might not exist, or you might not have permission to open it.
(However, I do have sufficient permissions.)
It was working perfectly fine on the previous build (20026.20166).

Hi, with SharePoint on-prem and the current Microsoft 365 OneNote desktop app, I would check authentication and patch levels first. Make sure the SharePoint 2016 or Subscription Edition farm is fully updated and that TLS and auth settings match what current Office builds expect. As a test, try a different Office update channel or a repaired OneNote cache to see whether the issue is client-build specific.
