SharePoint Note Changed to Enriched Text - Acting weird

I am not sure what is happening but in my sharepoint list I have a section that just allows me to place notes.  I updated this column and made it an enriched text column and now its showing this bizzare note "View entires" when I click inside this it shows me the notes but when I press the edit button it is not showing anything.  I changed it back to plain text control and removed append option and it still showing that View Entries in the column.  Anyone ever seen this?
