SharePoint News not publishing if created using "Copy of this News post"
We have an intermittent bug where, if a News post is created using the "Copy of this News post" function, the post will not Publish. We'll click Publish, but won't receive the usual pop-ups about sending it as an email etc. Upon page refresh, the page goes back to draft mode.
Site Pages shows that even after Publishing, the page is still in draft, and has a Promoted state of 2, but no "First Publishing Date"--- that field is entirely blank.
The issues seems to be intermittent. Is anyone else experiencing this? Our only workaround is to completely build the page from scratch.

The important symptom is that the copied post returns to draft after refresh; the absent email-sharing prompt alone would not prove publication failed. Check the item’s version history in Site Pages to see whether a published major version was actually created. Compare a failing copy with a newly created post using the same account, site, and minimal content. Have the site owner check approval requirements and whether another editing session or checkout is involved. Microsoft also supports publishing directly from the Pages library, so test that route on a disposable copy and record any error. Do not manually populate First Publishing Date or change Promoted State to make the item appear published. If library publishing also fails, give support the page identifiers, UTC failure time, version history, and exact reproduction. Your observations suggest an unsuccessful publishing operation, but do not establish a documented copy-specific product defect.
