SharePoint New button disappearing in modern UI
Enviroment: SharePoint 2019 onPremise using modern UI
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new custom contenttype based on SharePoint standard folder ContentType
2. Create a new document library, click advanced settings and set allow content type management to yes and "Make new folder command available" to no
3. Add the new created custom folder contenttype (step 1) to the document library
--> New button is visible in list and shows the default document and the custom folder contenttype item template (see attachment "2020-01-09_17h22_41.png")
4. Go to "Change new button order and default content type" in the library settings and disable the visibility for the standard document content type
--> New button disappeared. It is no longer possible to create a new item based on the custom folder content type. To create a new link is the only left possibility here (see attachment "2020-01-09_17h28_44.png")
In classic ui it is still possible to create a new folder item. Where is the new button in modern ui?

Did you ever figure this one out? I am getting the same thing in SharePoint online with random libraries in one of my site collections. I have full permissions as well as my users. When I load the library I can see the new button for a split second then it disappears. It's acting like it's a permission issue as if the library was set to read only but it hasn't, I know there is something about records management and labels that could lock a file or library but I haven't messed with it, I barely know it exists. Came across this post and thought I would add my issue to the pot.
