SharePoint mobile app Android - search in list always empty

When searching a list (using 1 content type) containing 400 items using the SharePoint app on Android, it always returns an empty result list (and the incorrect message that the list doesn't contain any items yet).

We think it is due to the number of items or the fact that the list uses a content type. The search is working correctly for a smaller list (200 items) which is not using a content type.
