I have been getting the same blank pages for the past few weeks. Is there a resolution? It's starting to get annoying and impeding my progress.
I got the same error which in my case was caused by too restrictive permission settings (in a custom permission level).
Make sure the following Site Permission is granted:
Use Remote Interfaces - Use SOAP, Web DAV, the Client Object Model or SharePoint Designer interfaces to access the Web site.
Otherwise the modern pages JS trickery won't work.
