SharePoint List Versioning Old Versions

Hello All,

We have a SharePoint list with versioning already enabled with major versioning.

Currently we have enabled to store 10 versions and list is showing versions as expected.

However today we have changed version settings to store only 5 versions and still we can see all old 10 versions and we can also able to create more versions than 5 .

When SPO will remove old versions if we change version setting to store less numbers compared to previous settings

Thanks,

Praveen

  • PraveenZnmd I think those should be deleted when you will edit the existing document at least once.

Until we create a new document or edit the existing document, new versioning limits will not be applicable. The new limit will not affect the existing old versions. We need to Delete them explicitly.

SourceWhat will happen if we change the number of versions to be 100 instead of 500 to utilize our storage

Thank you for looking into this.

We are trying this in SPO list and seems like not working as expected. We tried to change list item also created new one. Still we can see more versions than expected.

      Thanks,

      Praveen

PraveenZnmd Can you try creating another SharePoint list and see if you are able to reproduce it in another list as well.
