SharePoint List display different all of a sudden?

Ann_DAS for the last few weeks Microsoft have been rolling out the Lists experience in SharePoint and retiring the old SharePoint List experience. You can't roll it back to the previous experience.

I must admit that I am not a fan of the new look. We had a very good working list which has become unworkable because one of the colums contains a lot of text and the new list shows every line, instead of part of the lines. We have had the problem a few years back with another update. I was not the only one protesting at that point. Microsoft was able to turn back this particular problem. Now it is back an causing us real problems.
- I think my biggest issue is what to do with some of the changes and how are they are supposed to enhance the list experience. I see the point of having all the views displayed in a tabular format but others such as assigning a colour or icon to a list defeat me. And don't get me started on those columns!
