Sharepoint List column validation User Message doesn't show up

I have enabled a column validation and it works but in the normal edit mode (not Quick Edit) a User Message (which explains how the column must be formatted) just blinks for a fraction of a second. The user can't see what he/she is doing wrong.

It works in the Quick Edit mode but I need to disable Quick Edit for some lists.
