sharepoint layout

Hello i would like my page to have this Connections under the Group name like this:

And not on the left side. How and where can i change this?

  • For the group sites you do not have top navigation. Your options is to turn off the quick launch and perhaps create a custom SPFx solution to show them on top, but that would be above the logo - not where you want them.

This is the deal with the modern UI, less options for customization - but it ensures the site works better on all devices. If you associate the site to a HUB site you will get a global nav on top, above the logo.

And, Communication sites show the nav on top, but they are not available for Groups :-)

Mikael Svensonare you aware of any planned changes to provide consistent navigation options for all site templates?

I would say it is consistent. As comm sites don't have left nav, which doesn't make sense in that scenario. So what would consistency mean? :)
  • If your pages are Modern UI pages, you cannot yet change the templates where the left nav is. The only option is create new site collections as communications sites to get the top nav currently. If I was a betting man, I would bet that some kind of site layout option is going to be shown at SharePoint conference!

Hi if you need them to 100% be the same at all times, you will need a Managed Navigation.  You can manage the overall navgiation by going to Site Settings --> Navigation.

If you are looking to get rid of the left navigation and make that the top navigation, you may want to look into changing the site layout from Seattle to Oslo.  This can be done by going to Site Settings --> Change the Look.

    Good luck!
