SharePoint Hub Sites due in February for Targeted Release?
I was just thinking about Hub Sites and how to prepare for them and then I checked the Office 365 Roadmap and notice they are estimated for this month! Very happy but Mark-Kashman is Targeted Release...
- Feb 16, 2018Nearing the home stretch for hub sites into Targeted Release. We'll have an announcement blog to inform when we start rollout, plus a webinar, AMA and a fast follow 'planning guide' beyond the main help articles that will publish in parallel with the start of rollout. Hang tight, the team is working thru the last mile of this significant feature. :-) Cheers, Mark.

It is solely choice, nothing will happen to your existing site if you take no action. Once SharePoint hub sites begin Targeted Release (within next 1-2 weeks we'll begin), your admin(s) will then have a choice to create a new modern team site (group-connected) or a communication site and then convert it into a hub site using PowerShell. Or, you can do this on existing modern team sites or a communication sites. And you can create multiple hub sites following the above patterns.

What makes you think Powershell is the only way to create them?
- John WynneMar 23, 2018Silver ContributorHi Benjamin, PowerShell is currently the only method of creating Hub Sites. What you see in the video is a Team Site being associated with a Hub Site. The process is a site is created as a Team or Communication Site and a PowerShell command Register-SPOHubsite enables that Site as a Hub. A Site can be associated with the Hub Site through Site Information as you saw or programmatically through Add-SPOHubsiteAssociation. As of today Hub Sites will be made available in the UI through a Service Update which Microsoft is currently rolling out to Targeted Release. Both PowetShell commands and the Service Update need to be deployed before Hub Sites are available. Hub Sites will not be available in the UI by default at least initially.
