This problem still occurs, also with IE. When you clear the "Find a managed property" you can add multiple filters, but the results are very strange all the time. I would suggest an advanced mode with the possibility to add your own query like the Content Search WebPart. The SharePoint Search Query Tool and the old Content Search WebPart show the same results, Highlighted Content is different.
