Sharepoint Features Disappearing
Hi guys,
I am trying to create a SharePoint site and I really need some help. At the moment all I've created is the front page which I want to be simple for others to use while still looking nice. I've attached a picture of what I've done for you to see what I'm trying to describe.
I initially put in a Hero so I could link to the main things I needed on the page. These were 2 links to different Sways and one to a survey on SurveyMonkey. I saved these then when I went back to edit it and add more links, everything had disappeared!
After trying this three times and keeping having the same issue, I decided to put in the welcome statement at the top then add a webpart divided into three columns so I could imbed the Sways and include a link to my survey. This looked great. I then decided I wanted to change the look of the welcome statement so went back in to edit this. I didn't touch the other webpart but when I saved it all my content had gone again.
I'm not a SharePoint expert by any means and am just feeling my way along so I'm not sure if it's me being stupid, but I've spent around three hours creating it so far and having to repeatedly put this content in and I'm getting so frustrated it's unbelievable. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Amber
P.S. At the moment it is only me working on the site, no-one else can see it and it's not published.
- Bernhard StraubCopper ContributorI've had this behaviour a few times (both Edge and Firefox, not sure about Chrome). Closing the browser and deleting browser history/cookies (CTRL + SHIFT + DEL) usually has helped here. Also it seems that in the past few months this has happened more often then some time ago.

Hi AMJ_Devon,
This sounds incredibly frustrating! I haven't experienced this problem myself, but a couple of things that may help are:
(1) have you checked the version history of the page? It may be that there are lots of versions being created and you can get back to a version that you were happy with?
(2) you say you are the only person currently with access to the site, so if you are 'saving draft' at the moment (which created a minor version) then you could try 'publishing' your changes when you make them (which creates a major verison) and that may help stick your changes? Sorry, 'stick' is not a very technical term.
Oh, and what browser are you using? I tend to use Microsoft Edge for SharePoint but it's been playing up the last few days (our News items come and go, our Yammer webparts aren't loading) yet when I switch to Chrome everything works. So that's another thing to try maybe.
This link has info on points 1 and 2, apols if it's too basic: https://support.office.com/en-ie/article/management-and-lifecycle-of-a-sharepoint-modern-page-3410a04c-3ca4-4a4c-b867-33ab5c8bdcf3

Thank you both for your feedback, I really am beginning to go mad with this going wrong.
I am using Microsoft Edge because that is the only thing installed on my work computer. I am not sure if I would be allowed to request Chrome or Firefox but I might take a look.
I've just gone back to my site to see if I can take a look at the things you've pointed out. I couldn't find a version history so I suspect I'm not looking in the right place. However when I went to edit the webpart there were four boxes there telling me to install an embed code! Firstly I only asked for 2 in 2 columns & also where were the ones that I put in? Also after deleting two of the embed boxes it deleted the whole webpart and then I got an error message when trying to save.
I will check out the article that you linked to and see if I can use it on another browser but if you have any more tips you can give it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again,
Amber
