Sharepoint excel file wont stop loading

Hi guys. Is it just me or is everyone facing a problem with Sharepoint excel files constantly just loading and not opening? My company runs on the sharepoint excel file and we cant access it suddenly since yesterday. It just says loading and wont stop loading and then it says it cant be opened. Any solutions?

This problem can arise due to various factors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Clear Office Document Cache: Corrupted cache files can hinder Excel from opening documents. To clear the cache:
      • Exit all Office applications.
      • Navigate to %appdata%\Microsoft\Office\Recent in File Explorer and delete the contents of this folder.
      • Restart your computer and try accessing the Excel file again.
    2. Disable Protected View in Excel: Protected View can sometimes prevent files from opening. To disable it:
      • Open Excel and go to File > Options.
      • Select Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Protected View.
      • Uncheck all options under Protected View and click OK.
      • Attempt to open the Excel file from SharePoint again.
    3. Check Default Application Settings: Ensure that Excel is set as the default app for opening .xlsx files:
      • Go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps.
      • Scroll down and select Choose default apps by file type.
      • Find .xlsx and ensure Excel is selected as the default application.
    4. Repair Microsoft Office: There might be issues with your Office installation. To repair it:
      • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
      • Find and select Microsoft Office, then click Change.
      • Choose Quick Repair, then click Repair. If the issue persists, try the Online Repair option.
    5. Check SharePoint Permissions: Verify that you have the necessary permissions to access and edit the Excel file in SharePoint.
    6. Try a Different Browser or Clear Browser Cache: If you're accessing the file via a web browser, try using a different one or clear your current browser's cache and cookies.
    7. Update Office and Windows: Ensure that both your Office applications and Windows OS are up to date, as outdated software can lead to compatibility issues.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your IT department for further assistance. The text was created with the help of AI.
