Sharepoint Documents drag into Notebook (OneNote)

Hi

New to the Mircosoft 365 family.  Is it possible to simply pick up a file (ie word, excel, pdf etc) from Sharepoint Document Listing and drag it across into Notebook? I cannot seem to do this.

I can drag files from File Explorer etc, but not Sharepoint.  Am I missing something?

Thanks

  • Sorry drag and drop from a browser to a desktop application doesn't work.
The SharePoint drag and drop works from file explorer to the browser to upload documents or to drag documents in the browser to place files into folders within the site. On a related note the open with explorer option from the SharePoint libraries is how you can move files around or back to the desktop / network drive.
Now when the files are uploaded to SharePoint they get their own URL's. With that said you can then copy a link to the document to paste that into your Notebook instead. This way you can open the file where it is stored on SharePoint. Otherwise you will need to download the file and insert the file into your notebook manually.

  • AFAIK, it's not possible...you can drag and drop files into a SharePoint document library, but not outside of the SharePoint document library. As a workaround, you could sync your documents to your local PC using the OneDrive Sync Client and them drag & drop to OneNote
