Does anyone know about the history related to the site feature called "Work Group Lists"? According to this article it is what enables the reservation, resources and possibly the double booking part of the calendar that I would like to explore more.

I've got a 2013 on prem environment so i'm not sure this site feature is something that can be added to a 2013 + site. I noticed the documentation was related to 2010 sites.

i think that was an old feature that began in 2007 and was dropped.

I found a hidden way to enable it on this site and I think if you have these requirements this is a hidden gem that still works in SharePoint.
