Sharepoint : Version History unable to revert back values of newly added columns

Hi Everyone,

I have a list in Sharepoint library which stores values and we have provisioned the versioning , so that users can revert the value if needed.

Recently , I have added new column in my list and users started saving values in those columns.

When user tries to revert the changes using version history to a version when the newly added column doesn't exist , newly added column value doesn't changes and it retain it's values.

Is this some kind of limitation with "Version History" ?

Thanks in Advance

  • vkartik Yes, I think this is by design. As column was not added to list/library when you created that version in the past, SharePoint will not know what value should be assigned to the column when you restore the older version.
