Send Email from SharePoint Online using Lotus Notes Mail (on-premises)

Is there a way to send email notifications from SharePoint online via Lotus Notes Email, which is hosted on-premises?

 

Currently, one of our customers have Lotus Notes Email and do not want to migrate to Exchange due to some internal reasons, but they have SharePoint Online. Hence, customer wants to send email notification with the existing infrastructure i.e., Lotus Notes

 

Just want to know is it possible and if yes, what are the steps involved for these configurations.
