Searching for (Office 365 Group) Private SharePoint Team Sites that users are not members of
Apologies for what might be a simple question, one that might have something to do with security trimming.
If a user is not a member of the O365 group for a private SP Team site should the be able to see the groups existence in a SP or Delve search? (SP being from https://tennantname.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx )
Should an Owner of the group, if they are not also a member? Should a Global Admin?
I'm trying to diagnose why about 20 groups are not showing in SP searches. They are all private groups to which I'm not a member (but the user who trouble ticketed this is an owner). I'd have put it down to security trimming but I can search and find others - they just lead me to the old 'Sorry click here to request access')
If this is an indexing issue of some kind, how does one force a re-index?

It's my understanding that if you're not a member of those groups you won't see them in Delve or SharePoint search because when you're not a member of a private group, you do not have permission to view the associated SharePoint site. Because Delve and the new SharePoint search is security trimmed according to existing permissions, you won't see those group sites that you are not a member of. You would be better off going to Outlook Web Access and clicking Discover and search the group directory there.

Conceptually that's what I thought but it doesn't seem to explain why I can see some of the other private groups and much more importantly why owners of said private groups can't see them in searches either.
It's as if they haven't been indexed. Or some of the others have been indexed wrong - I'm not sure which.
I guess I'm at the point where I'll need to book out a support call.
(As a side note the new ability to see private groups in Teams will make the case for them being hidden in SP searches an oddity)
