Search Preferences
Currently, if you want search results to open in the client application rather than the browser each user must go to the bottom of the search results page, click the Preferences link, and change the setting to use the client application rather than opening in the browser.
Is there a global setting I am missing to have all of our users' search results open in the client application rather than the browser? It is very frustrating to have to change this for each user when we would like everyone to have documents that appear in the search results open in their default client application.
Thank you,
Zach
- Hi Zach
As documented, there is a global setting for opening in the office client, however the single exception to this is search which is achieved how you described.

Looking online, it looks like this has been an issue for people for some years. I can’t find a uservoice for it so opened one for you

Recommend to vote to start pushing it up the agenda.

Best, Chris- zblomstromCopper ContributorHi Chris,
I also came across that article when doing research to try and fix this issue.
Thank you for creating that uservoice topic to try and get this changed. I did go ahead and vote.
Thank you,
Zach- Not a problem! Let's hope it gets picked up in the future!
