Scalability of an Intranet build on Modern Communications Sites

Hi There, I'm interested in hearing feedback from companies that have built an intranet in an enterprise environment using SharePoint Online modern communication sites and the SharePoint Framework. Specifically, I'm interested in page performance under load. I know that performance would be dependent on the specific implementation, but I'm just looking for general comments and any gotchas surrounding scalability.  Any input is welcome.
