Restoring a deleted user (SharePoint 2013)

We cleared up some old users in the hidden user page to reduce the number listed when a field is populated. Unfortunately removing one of the old accounts has broken a SharePoint application.

I'd like to restore the user, and I have backups of the database with their account present. Can I manually copy information into the live database to recreate the account?
