Rename notebook without breaking sync

Is it possible to rename a OneNote notebook in a Sharepoint site without breaking the ability to sync? I tried changing the name of a notebook by going into Site Assets and using the rename menu option. However, when I opened that notebook in the OneNote for Windows 10 app, it had stopped syncing. When I changed the name back, it started syncing again. So just wondering if there is a way to do this or if you are stuck with whatever name you gave the notebook when you first created it?
