Recommended updates: PUs or CUs to be appled to SharePoint 2016 for hybrid readiness
Hi
I am looking at setting up the hybrid features on SharePoint 2016, early next year prior to go live. With this in mind, I want apply at least the September 2017 public update: Feature Pack 2 whose details are listed in the updates to SharePoint 2016 . Given this is live I want my farm to be "strong and stable" ;-) , so I am wondering I should stick with FP2.
Has anyone applied any of the latest updates and not found any issues, esp. from the perspective of configuring hybrid? Similarly, is anyone waiting for a big update (Feature pack 3!) and if so why?

Thanks for the advice as I wasn't sure if anything had changed having previously worked with many SharePoint 2013 deployments.
I do have one further related question: Do I need to apply September 2017 (FP 2) PU followed by December 2017 (PU), as only FP 1 is included in both of these Public Updates?

One of the big changes between 2013 and 2016 is the patching advice from MS.
Each PU is cumulative, you just need to install the December 2017.
A very good resource for all patching information is the Stefan Gossner's blog at https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/stefan_gossner/2017/12/12/december-2017-cu-for-sharepoint-2016-is-available-for-download/

Thanks very much, that was the answer I as hoping for - FP 2 is also part of the Dec 12 2017 PU.
- The guidance is that you apply SharePoint 2016 PUs shortly after their release. This means keeping up to date rather than lagging months behind.
With regards to hybrid specifically, always keep up to date. That's how you'll get the fixes.
