Quick Links to have the option to open in a new tab
Hi there - Can we please have the option to have Quick Links and other web parts (Hero, etc) allow for us to open in a new tab? I often use this web part it for reference materials and it links to PDF's and it's always opening in the same window - very confusing for the client. Thanks!
- ddotyCopper ContributorWell just today, I now notice when editing a Quick Links item there is now a checkbox to Open in a New Tab! Hooray!! I'm a happy camper now.
Yes, Microsoft is currently rolling out a new feature for SharePoint Online quick links web part which will allow you to open links in new browser tab.
You can choose to open individual links in new browser tab using quick links web part settings, like:

Currently opening links in a new tab is only possible with SharePoint online site navigation. check: SharePoint: Configure Navigation Links to Open in a New Tab
Microsoft is considering bringing same functionality for quick links web part as well (no ETA), check: Open in a new tab Quick Links Web Part SharePoint Online

- You can also choose to open Text links in a new tab. I agree that it would be helpful to have the option to open Quick Links in a new tab as well, but the place to make that request is in the Feedback Portal. That said, it's not always a good idea to open a link in a new tab on behalf of users, especially from an accessibility perspective: https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/Techniques/general/G200.
