Quick Edit is not Meeting Business User Needs

We have migrated over 7000 sites from SP2010 to SPO.  A common complaint from users is that the list Quick Edit replacement for the SP2010 Datasheet view has had a negative impact on their daily business processes.  Performance aside, the number one complaint is the inability to run a custom search against a column.  This was possible in SP2010 Datasheet view as shown below.

My only solution to the business is to have them request a customization on their site from our centralized SP developer team, but this costs money and does not go over well.

Are there any plans from MS to enhance the Quick Edit user interface to provide more advanced column filter and search options?  The ideal solution would be filter tools similar to Excel online.

Have others found a work around in SPO to perform a custom search scoped to a list column in either standard or quick edit view?

May want to ask the question on User Voice if looking for a MS response...

Feel like you'll get alot of "do csom dev" responses short of that.

I feel your pain and def agree there was functionality loss/more power with access engine datasheet view... I end up connecting with access for multi item/adhoc query list management nowadays :/

Yes, the performance was unacceptable with the modern UI.  We have had way too many issues with modern in general and I have started to steer people away from using it with large lists and libraries with many views & files.
