Prevent new item from being created in a list
is it possible to create a permission that won't allow new items to be created in a list but still allow current items to be edited and modified?
Hi Will735 - yes, you can create a copy of the Contribute level and remove the option to Add New Items.
- Go into Site Information > Site Settings > Site Permissions > Permission Levels
- Click on Contribute
- Scroll to the bottom and select Copy Permission Level
- Give it an intuitive name
- Uncheck the option to Add items
- Click Submit
- Change your groups permissions to the new level
