Possible to disable sharing links for specific document library?

Hi,

I have a classic team site with two document libraries A and B.  I have the requirement to be able to share the site with authenticated external users but no one (internal or external users) should be able create sharing links for items in library B.

I know that I can employ SharePoint security groups to govern that external users cannot access library B. However, what if an internal user creates a sharing link for a specific item from library B using the "specific people" option?

This will give the item in question unique permissions and thus override that I defined that external users should not be able to access anything in library B.

Is there an option truly lock down library B whilst maintaining external user access to the site collection and library A?

Thanks for helping me with this.

  • Sharing settings are per site collection level currently so you will not be able to do this.

I was afraid this was the case and creating another site collection would be the only viable option but we can work with this. Thanks for confirming.
